Specialists sought for Post Office conservation

Specialist engineers, consultants and surveyors are being sought to plan the conservation of the old Rockhampton Post Office building in East Street.
The specialists are being sought by the Bauhinia Architects firm, which is working with conservation specialist firm Allom Lovell on a project led by Central Queensland University.
Work is well under way to progress a conservation plan for heritage approval and internal refurbishment discussions are underway with user groups.
The University, via the CQU Foundation, has committed $3 million for the Post Office restoration and development. The magnificent building is set to become the headquarters for the proposed Central Queensland Regional Health Partnership.
