Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Uni helps sponsor Queensland Health Fun Run

CQUniversity recently sponsored the first ever Queensland Health Fun Run. Over 300 people turned out for an early start (6.45 am) on a very warm morning to show their support for the Rockhampton Hospital. 

University staff and students also participated by walking or running the 3km or 6km course.

CQUniversity is pleased to be able to support this event that promotes physical activity and exercise, as well as showing its support for our hospital, a great resource for all the community.

The course started at the Rugby Park field before heading along the Yeppen Lagoon and up through to the Botanic Gardens, finishing back at Rugby Park.

Proceeds from the fun run will go towards the Rockhampton Hospital. Organisers were pleased with the turn out and hope to make it an annual event.
