Caneland promotion gets 100 enquiries

CQU Mackay staff have had a busy start to the year, receiving 100 enquiries from potential students at a shopping centre promotion held at Caneland Central, in Mackay last week.

Community Relations Officer, Claire Christensen attributes the success of the promotion to the timing coinciding with the release of QTAC first round of offers.

"We were at Caneland on the same day QTAC published its offers on line, so potential students were coming in with questions on changing their preference and also to discuss options if they didn't receive their first preference," said Claire.

Mackay residents interested in tertiary study demonstrated they are serious about their New Year's resolutions and took full advantage of the fact that it isn't too late to apply to uni and start studying in March. Interest in the STEPS program was easily the most popular enquiry, with many considering the bridging program a good way to begin their university careers.

Arts, Nursing, Business, Education and Engineering were also popular with many students just needing some simple advice on courses, and how to go about applying.
