The Conferring of the degree of Honorary Doctor of Business on Robert Ernest Scheuber AM

Bob Scheuber is one of CQUniversity's most outstanding alumni, with an illustrious career in the Australian public sector.  Bob was Chief Executive Officer of QR until 2007 when he established his own consulting business.  He also currently serves as Chair of the QSuper Board of Trustees and RT Health Fund, and has served as a Director of Rail CRC, the co-operative Centre for Railway Engineering and Technologies, a joint venture between six major railway companies and six universities including CQUniversity which held a significant share in the initiative.

As CEO of QR, Bob was responsible for a three billion dollar a year corporation with over fourteen thousand employees, assets worth around eight billion dollars and running nine hundred trains, moving a half a million tonnes of freight and fifteen thousand passengers each day.  One of his most significant challenges was leading QR through the intricacies of major organisational change in highly competitive markets.  QR's performance as one of Australia's most successful transport companies in this turbulent and challenging environment is a testament to Bob's outstanding abilities and talent.

He is known for his focus and determination to see projects and issues through to the end.  Bob also has an outstanding reputation for integrity and has championed a new workplace culture at QR based on values and behaviours he not only espoused, but exemplified.

In January 2008, Bob was honoured as a Member of the Order of Australia for his ‘service to the rail sector in Queensland, particularly through contributions to regulatory and operational reforms'.

Bob holds degrees in business and economics.  He is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Management, and the Society of Chartered Practicing Accountants.  He is also a Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
