Teens turn out in Rockhampton to hear from top young physicist

Year 11 and 12 students from throughout the Rockhampton district have attended a 2005 Australian Institute of Physics (Qld) Youth Lecture Tour event at CQU Rockhampton.
The free event featured one of Australia’s top young physicists, Associate Professor Andrew Luiten, addressing the topic ‘Was Einstein Right?’.
This year’s tour falls during The Einstein International Year of Physics, celebrating 100 years since Einstein published papers in which he proved the existence of atoms and molecules, explained that light can behave like a particle, and came up with the Special Theory of Relativity and his famous formula. This work became the basis for what is now called the Standard Model of Physics.
