Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Bushdance funds koala research 

CQU staff and students are being encouraged to kick up their heels at the Koala Charity Bushdance to be held at the Rockhampton High School Assembly Hall on Monday 28 April from 8pm.

PhotoID:745 Partners in the Koala Research Centre – CQU, Rockhampton City Council and the Environmental Protection Agency – are coordinating the event and are asking people to get a group together for a “true blue Aussie night”.

The Currawong Bushband, accompanied by master caller Paul Bambrick, will lead the evening, while bush poet extraordinaire Harry Pickering will also entertain the crowd.

A bush supper will be served including corned meat sandwiches, damper, fruitcake, bill tea and coffee.

An Aussie Collectables Raffle will operate during the evening, with a sapphire, painting, coin collection, craft items, bush books and boomerang up for grabs.

Bushdance and raffle tickets are available at $40 for adults and $100 for family. A special price of $30 for adults and $80 for a family is available for staff, family and friends.
