Now there's a way to say 'thanks a million'

..

  • Do you have a colleague who has helped you out or who has provided exceptional service to one of our students?
  • Has someone in your work unit developed a process or procedure that has had a significant impact on the University?
  • Would you like to say ‘thanks' to one of your colleagues at another campus?

If you have found yourself answering yes to any of these questions, you need a Thanks a Million card.

Vice-Chancellor Scott Bowman circulated blank Thanks a Million cards to each campus recently, encouraging staff to show each other their appreciation and to recognise exceptional actions by colleagues that go above and beyond their everyday job responsibilities.

Professor Bowman commented recently on his blog site that we all love recognition. I am very lucky to have a boss - the Chancellor who is very generous with his praise. There is nothing better for me (well maybe one or two things!) than when he makes a positive comment about me or the University. I try to say thanks and well done as much as I can. I try to recognise a job well done or a person that goes beyond the call of duty. I know I don't do it was often as I should. I encourage you all to say thanks and well done to colleagues who have done a good job and I hope you enjoy using the Thanks a Million cards to do this.

Director of People and Culture, Barbara Miller says, "Taking the time out to say thank you to someone for the efforts they have taken to make your job easier or to ensure that you have a good day takes only five minutes but the feeling that person gets from receiving that recognition can last much longer. It is definitely worth taking the time to show your appreciation; it won't only make you feel good but will assist in building better relationships and increased collaboration across the University."

Cards are being distributed to each campus, but if you find yourself needing more, please contact the Corporate Communications Division at communicate@cqu.edu.au or by phoning 4923 2856.
