CQU confirms future of Language Centre

CQU has confirmed the long-term future of its Language Centre after a exploring a range of possibilities and considering a variety of feedback.
The University has determined that the Language Centre should remain a part of CQU and that the reporting relationships should be realigned from the Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Education to the Division of Teaching and Learning Services effective May 1 2007.
Deputy Vice-Chancellor Professor Angela Delves thanked members of the University community for their valuable contribution to the debate surrounding the Centre's future.
"Your positive engagement has greatly assisted the University in making an informed determination in respect to this matter," she said.
Meanwhile, the Language Centre is hosting Thai children on an annual Universal Cultural Exchange (UCE) visit, involving English lessons, community interactions and visits to local attractions.

The Thai group last week visited St Mary's Primary School and will this week (Thursday from 1.30pm-3pm) perform in costume at Heights College.
On Thursday, May 10, from 10.30am to 11am, the visitors will perform at the Second Anniversary Morning Tea of Council's Multicultural Resource Centre.
The exchange group will highlight their promotion of Thai culture in Australia by cooking a Thai meal for their homestay families at the CQU Language Centre on Friday, May 11 at 6.30pm.
