Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Thai teacher and palace secretary meet at CQU Language Centre 

A Thai teacher who won a spelling bee and a secretary from the Thai royal palace are among students at the CQU Rockhampton Language Centre.

PhotoID:2931 Thai teacher Sirinee Nuntasri (pictured left) gained a scholarship to study in Rockhampton as a winner of a national spelling bee run by one of Thailand's top English language newspapers and the Thailand Minstry of Education.

She had a busy start to her visit, helping out as an interpreter for about 50 Thais visiting Beef 2006, but has since settled into her study routine.

Meanwhile, Thai palace secretary Nantiya Srijitapong (pictured right) was selected for a language study scholarship by Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn.

Both visitors have been staying with local families and have enjoyed their experiences in Rockhampton.
