Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Schools flock to CQU drama productions 

School groups have flocked to recent CQU drama productions, including 'Snagged', 'X-Stacy' and 'Storybook Theatre'.

All have been produced by Howard Cassidy from the Faculty of Education & Creative Arts.

PhotoID:984 Snagged, a production aimed at convincing rural youth to return to the country after tasting city life, has played to packed houses in Clermont, Emerald and Middlemount.

'X-Stacy', which explores the rave scene and the dangers of drug-taking, played to six packed houses of school children and teachers in Rockhampton's Helene Jones Theatre. A public show was also staged. 'X-Stacy' is a Theatre-in-Education production.

Meanwhile, the CQU Theatre-in-Education Company's Storybook Theatre debuted in Rockhampton before touring to Capella, Clermont and Moranbah. The Storybook program included 'My Giant Dream', 'Nana's Song', and 'Made in China'.
