Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Robert Doyle BIO 

Robert Doyle, DipEd HawthorneIE is the Lord Mayor of Melbourne and a Principal of the Nous Group, one of Australia's fastest growing management consultancies.

Since 2007 he has been the Chairman of Melbourne Health (The Royal Melbourne Hospital).  He is also the current Chairman of the Royal Melbourne Hospital Foundation and a Trustee of the Shrine of Remembrance.

A Member of Victoria's Parliament for 14 years, Robert was Victorian Opposition Leader and Leader of the Liberal Party for four years.

He is a past Shadow Minister for Health and, in government, was the State Parliamentary Secretary for Health.  He has extensive experience in regulatory, legislative and legal frameworks, as well as all aspects of public policy.

He is an ex-officio member of all Melbourne City Council Committees, chairs the Council meetings, and is a current member of the Audit Committee.

Robert's dedication and commitment to a better community is continually demonstrated in the roles he undertakes.

As a community leader, his strength in community engagement is demonstrated by his Ambassadorial roles for Odyssey House, a drug and alcohol abuse rehabilitation facility and the not-for-profit organisation, SecondBiteSecondBite is committed to making a positive difference in the lives of the disadvantaged and homeless, by sourcing fresh food that would otherwise go to waste, and distributing it to the disadvantaged and homeless.
