CQUniversity's Learning and Teaching Showcase included plenty of food for thought this week.
Images from Monday's Great Debate. LINK for larger photosShowcase sessions were videostreamed to participants at 10 campus and delivery sites throughout Australia, across the Monday and Tuesday program days (August 9-10).
Buzz phrases abounded as lecturers found out about holistic partnerships, second-language comprehension, work-integrated learning, blended and online learning, group work and group solutions.
Staff were encouraged to socialise at each location and also attend or video-link to a Great Debate, where teams argued for or against the concept that 'Classroom-Based Learning is more Effective than Online Learning'.
There were lessons to be learnt from the performing arts, clinical placements, research-based projects, improvements in video lectures and tactics for teaching persistance.
Lecturers not already aligned were encouraged to interact with a range of SIGs, or special interest groups.
Day 2 Highlights included a presentation by Nona Muldoon, Colin Beer and Dawn Hay, who joined others to discuss the role an ePortfolio system might play in supporting educational objectives
Professor Rob Reed, the Pro Vice-Chancellor (Learning & Teaching), welcomed participation.
"The program was jam-packed with sessions to delight and inspire," he said.
"This year's theme 'from Principles to Practice' has drawn presenters from all areas of the University who showcased how they have embedded key educational principles into everyday practice."
