"This is a significant milestone in the advancement of CQUniversity. It engages, more fully, our international and domestic ‘spheres'," said CQUniversity Vice Chancellor Scott Bowman.

In his dual role capacity (CEO and DVCI) Hawkins  -- based in Melbourne -- will lead initiatives across the University which will provide new learning opportunities for all students and further develop relationships and interactions among academics across CQUniversity.

Ken has been associated with CQUniversity 1995. In 2007 he was approved as an Auditor of the Australian Universities Quality Agency (AUQA). He was made a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors in 2010.

Ken has over 40 years' experience in teaching and leadership, having served on numerous boards and university committees. An author and an active academic, he's been a Visiting Scholar at Boston University.

"As anyone who has worked closely with Ken would attest, he is innovative, energetic and passionate about his work and believes strongly that both sides of CQUniversity share a common goal of providing better access and increased opportunity to people who, otherwise, may not benefit from all the advantages higher education presents," Professor Bowman said.
