Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

CQU continues its interstate and overseas growth 

CQU Sydney International Campus (5854 students now in two buildings - undergraduate and postgraduate) and CQU Melbourne International Campus (3753) are now the University's largest campuses in terms of student numbers.

Their growth means that CQU now has more on-campus students in NSW and Victoria (a total of 9607) than it does in Queensland (7401 including 1122 at CQU Brisbane and 602 at CQU Gold Coast).

PhotoID:2600 The University's overseas profile is also developing with significant cohorts in Fiji (445), Hong Kong (133), Singapore (563) and Shanghai (38).

A total of 8151 students have taken up flexible delivery to some extent, while the headquarters at CQU Rockhampton now has 2734 students.

CQU's figures at Bundaberg campus (888), Emerald campus (110) Gladstone campus (294), Mackay campus (953), Sunshine Coast Delivery Site (121) and Noosa Hub (577) are also included.

The University has a total of 24,102 students, with a little over half (12,515) international and a little less than half (11,587) domestic.

The trend is not all towards the capital cities, with regional campuses including Rockhampton (333 internationals), Bundaberg (6 internationals) and Mackay (11 internationals) also hosting overseas students.

CQU now has 287 Doctorate by Research and Masters by Research students and 8527 coursework postgraduates.

We have 13,445 male students and 10,657 female students.
