Research grant applications: A new how-to

A new process is in effect for all research grant applications submitted to agencies outside of the University. Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic and Research) Ron Davies announced the change in policy during the December meeting of Research Committee of Academic Board.

All applications must now be accompanied by a completed Research Application Cover Sheet (available at http://www.cqu.edu.au/research/research_services/grants.htm) to be forwarded to the Office of Research, together with the requisite number of copies of the completed application, prior to submission to any external agencies. Where an external agency requires electronic submission of a grant proposal a print off of the application must be submitted to the Office of Research (together with the Research Application Cover Sheet) prior to submission to the external agency.

The Australian Research Council has also released guidelines for the next round of the ARC Discovery Projects Grants. CQU intends to implement an internal assessment process and special incentives prior to submission of applications to this next grant round. (See adjoining article on the reward scheme.) “To facilitate this process all intending applicants are invited to submit a FIRST DRAFT of their completed application to the Office of Research by 31 January,” said Leslie Walker, Grants and Industry Liaison Officer, Office of Research.

Applicants should contact Leslie as soon as possible so that an appropriate peer-assessor can be arranged for each application. The Office of Research also reminds applicants that all named investigators must have a GAMS ID and password. Any investigators requiring this access should contact the Office of Research as soon as possible.

Contact Leslie Walker, Grants and Industry Liaison Officer, Office of Research if you require any further information.
