Youngsters turn on a great show at CQU Bundaberg

CQU Bundaberg was alive and kicking with 50 primary school children dressed as cats, playing with fire and dancing like they never had before last week.
The year five, six and seven students from a local primary school were on campus to participate in an assignment piece for the Primary Education Learning Management students.
Dance lecturer Jody Bard said the Dance Performance program introduces students to the theatrical dance medium and aims to encourage the students to assist primary aged children to make their own dance performances.
“Students investigate how theatrical dance communicates and which elements lead to successful choreographies," Ms Bard explains. "Various properties of the theatre are examined for example the use of lights, costumes and props are included in the choreographies.
“The goal is to co-create with the children communicative dance performances that inspire enthusiastic participation and encourage personal expression.
The seven different groups performed their dances at the end of the morning in a blaze of colour and spectacular.
Each group amazed their own school teachers with the children’s creativity and lack of inhibition. The performances were a great success.
