Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Mackay forum on Indigenous Family Violence Prevention 

The Queensland Centre for Domestic and Family Violence Research, based at CQU Mackay, recently (May 2-3) held its fourth annual Indigenous Family Violence Prevention Forum.

Titled Breaking the chains - Reclaiming our future, the purpose of the Forum is to celebrate the good work done by Indigenous communities.

The event provides an opportunity for participants to network, share information and learn from one another's experiences.

More than 120 people attended the Forum,  which is the Centre's contribution to Queensland's Domestic and Family Violence Prevention Month.
