Unconventional staging a feature of performance

Rockhampton audiences will get a chance to experience a production featuring unconventional staging techniques on Friday, May 27 (from 7pm at the CQU Rockhampton Helene Jones Room, building 5).

PhotoID:2108 CQU lecturer Rickie Fisher said students will apply skills and processes in a performance consisting of scenes, songs and scenic events on the theme of the city and life in it.

Students in the production are from the performing arts, creative enterprise and learning management (secondary) degrees. ‘The City: living in an unreal world’ features unconventional staging techniques and conventions.

“Working from a base script, students had to manage the project with limitations on space, performers and budget,” Mr Fisher said.

“The performance is staged using an eclectic style, borrowing conventions from Epic Theatre, Physical Theatre, Expressionism and Theatre of Transformation.”.

Entry to the production is by gold coin. For details call Rickie Fisher on 4930 9318 or r.fisher@cqu.edu.au .
