Early success for CQCM's country girl

CQCM’s Bachelor of Music (Voice) student Vanessa Worthington (pictured) is set for country music stardom at the ripe old age of 17.

Ms Worthington began singing in her family’s band, The Harmonics when she was eight years old and has continued her passion for music by studying at the Central Queensland Conservatorium of Music (CQCM).

Ms Worthington has also been successful in winning three major vocal awards and numerous top rankings in the Mackay Eisteddfod over the past few years.

Throughout Ms Worthington’s musical journey, she has performed alongside famous country legends such as James Blundell and The Wolverines. She is also set to join Melinda Schneider as her support act.

“My life would not be complete without music and singing. It also helps me discover who I am through the songs that I perform,” Vanessa Worthington said.

The Harmonics will perform at the Wine and Food Day as part of Mackay Festival of Arts in July.
