Solo guitar artist Gerard Ryan had the crowd mesmerized during his awe-inspiring performance, earning him second place and a whole lot of praise.
Gladstone Band, Militia, took out third place with a solid set of metal; this being the style of choice at this year's comp.
Also competing on the night were Pseudo Promise, Darker Shades of White, Disaster Area and Husk.
Photographs of the night will be available from http://www.association.cqu.edu.au/ncbc from Wednesday September 19 onwards.
