Newly-published author Greg Chapman was first 'hooked' on the horror of Edgar Allan Poe during a Literary Theory class at CQUniversity in Rockhampton.
Greg, who started his career as a journalist and now works in Media and Communications for TAFE, is overjoyed that his own horror story entitled Torment has been published by California-based Damnation Books.

"This is a dream come true for me. Ever since I was young I've been writing stories and drawing comics wishing that one day I would be published and here it is," Greg says.
"I love to read ghost stories, horror and crime, like Clive Barker and Stephen King, and writing horror stories appeals to me because I can just let the imagination fly. This is just the start because I plan to make Torment the first of many stories."
The cover of Torment
Torment tells the story of Jessica Newman, whose tragic childhood has come back to haunt her. Her father, a Catholic deacon she hasn't seen since he was found not guilty of her mother's death during an exorcism ritual, has turned up dead in Scotland, with a wound to the head.
Forced to take her family to Scotland and deal with her father's estate - a derelict mansion in the Grampian Mountains - Jessica begins to question her mother's death and what role her father played in it. The house and its dark basement could provide more answers than she bargained for.
