Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Noosa academic's textbook shortlisted for publishing awards 

Congratulations to Dr Anthony Welch who co-authored a publication shortlisted for the 2012 Australian Awards for Excellence in Educational Publishing, conducted in partnership with the Australian Publishers Association.

The book entitled Research Methods in Nursing and Midwifery: pathways to evidenced based practice was published by Oxford University Press and shortlisted in the 'wholly Australian category for university student resources'.

Dr Welch is based at CQUniversity Noosa Campus, where he is Associate Professor Mental Health Nursing for the School of Nursing and Midwifery and Assistant Dean Community Engagement.

Another Noosa Campus academic, Professor Mike Horsley is the chief judge and founder of the Educational Publishing Awards and manages them in partnership with the APA.

Professor Horsley says being shortlisted is an important achievement in contributing to teaching and learning.
