Jazz star to "Grace" the Multicultural Fair stage

Acclaimed jazz/blues vocalist Grace Knight is coming back to Rockhampton as a headline act for this year’s CQ Multicultural Fair and CQU Open Day where she will perform with the Central Queensland Conservatorium of Music’s Big Band.

Grace has just ended a hugely successful Queensland-wide tour with the band and special guests vocalist Sharny Russell and trumpeter Don Rader.

PhotoID:638 The success of the week-long ABC Jazz Tour convinced Grace to perform an encore performance at this year’s Multicultural Fair in Rockhampton this Sunday August 17.

CQCM Jazz Studies Co-ordinator Glen Hodges was excited at the news that CQCM’s Big Band had another chance to perform with the Jazz diva.

“Grace has been a huge encouragement boost for the band. She was really impressed by the quality of the jazz program and the dedication of the students such that she has been discussing with us what the next big project is,” Mr Hodges said.

Grace has confirmed she will be doing a set at the inaugural Hamilton Island Jazz Festival on September 13, which the Conservatorium’s Jazz Department has coordinated.

Grace Knight took the Eurogliders pop band to chart topping success throughout the 80s, then she became Australia\'s number one selling Jazz Diva in the 90s, and more recently she has written her own songs for the 'Zietgeist' album.

PhotoID:639 Grace found her career spin into a new realm following the release of the 'Come in Spinner' soundtrack in 1990, for which she was chosen to sing 1940s torch songs. The result was outstanding, the album selling over 250,000 copies and a vast, enthusiastic new audience materialising.
