Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Former lecturer back from UK 

Former CQU lecturer Dr Grant Abt has returned to visit some of his former colleagues in the School of Health and Human Performance.

PhotoID:744 For the past three years, Grant has been teaching at St Martin's College (affiliated with Lancaster University) in the area of exercise physiology.

A keen soccer fan, he has also taken the opportunity to attend Premier League and Champions League matches at nearby Liverpool.

Grant has also been working with West Ham United Football Club in London as a sports scientist, on a consultancy basis. He has also made research links with Bolton Wanderers and Glasgow Celtic.

His return visit was prompted by receiving his PhD from CQU during the recent Bundaberg graduation.
