CQU helps to beef up Beef Australia event
Published on 04 May, 2006
CQU staff and students are getting involved in several aspects of Beef 2006, being held in Rockhampton this week.
Among the most visible contributions will be performing arts students, popping up with crazy street theatre antics throughout the event.
These performers are preparing with guidance from Transient Theatre co-founder Tony Kishawi (pictured with students), who has years of experience in community theatre, object theatre, mask and mime, within Australia and overseas.
Another performing arts student - Andrea Shine from South Africa (pictured below) - will perform the national anthem during the Opening Ceremony and at the first rodeo.
Meanwhile, CQU learning management (early childhood) students are conducting relevant art-based activities for pre-school and school groups visiting the expo site.
Tourism students have been encouraged to join the expo volunteer program coordinated by Rockhampton Tourist and Business Information.
Several students are involved providing interpreting services for overseas visitors.
Also, CQU's various schools and faculties will be represented in the trade show precinct during the week.
