The community of Central Queensland University (CQU) deeply regrets the passing of their good friend and colleague, Professor Gary Anido, Deputy Vice Chancellor, Academic and Research.
Professor Anido died unexpectedly of a heart attack in Canberra last Thursday.
“We have very heavy hearts. All of our thoughts and prayers are with Gary’s family,” said Vice Chancellor Glenice Hancock.
Professor Anido, 46, is survived by his wife, Anne, and their two children.
A leading researcher in Information Technology, Professor Gary Anido was welcomed by CQU as its new Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academic and Research just one month ago.
He previously headed the School of Telecommunications, Multimedia and IT within Melbourne University Private and was simultaneously Professor of Telecommunications within the University of Melbourne’s Faculty of Engineering.
“His energy, enthusiasm and vision were outstanding,” said Professor Hancock. “Even though he was at CQU for such a short time, he had already had a positive impact. It was a privilege to have worked with him.” A funeral service for Professor Anido will be held in Wollongong later this week.
