Central Queensland University ranks 5th among universities teaching full-time overseas students in Australia and is first in Queensland for the same measure.
That is according to the latest statistics from IDP Education Australia Ltd.
CQU Dean (International Programs) Professor Debbie Clayton said the regional university ranked first nationally for enrolments from India, Bangladesh, Taiwan, Pakistan, Nepal, Poland, Slovakia, Czech Republic and Hungary.
CQU also ranks 2nd nationally for enrolments from Thailand, Russia, Fiji, Turkey and Myanmar.
Some countries only have a handful of students in Australia. CQU has either captured the market or is leading the market for students from Eritrea, Sudan, Bolivia, Barbados, Yemen, Benin, Estonia, Syria Arab Republic, Belarus, Bulgaria and Ukraine.
CQU currently teaches 6168 international students in Australia (or 37.9 per cent of its total onshore students). It teaches a total of 7136 international students (onshore and offshore), representing 41.4 per cent of its total student population.
Meanwhile, CQU Rockhampton this week (Tuesday, July 20) hosted a visit by IDP United Kingdom Marketing Officer and Student Counsellor Amanda Pascall.
