Pseudomonas aeruginosa is renowned for producing persistent infections in areas such as the lungs and is the major cause of morbidity and mortality in cystic fibrosis (CF) patients.
Deputy Vice-Chancellor Professor Jennelle Kyd.It is also one of the most prevalent infectious agents for those with burns, neutropenia, long-term catheters or with compromised immunity.
The bacterium is notoriously difficult to eradicate even with long-term therapy.
The presentation, An infection we hope we don't get: Pseudomonas aeruginosa, explored some of the current research approaches in treating these infections.
