Wessling leaves Sydney campuses for CMS role

CQUniversity Sydney has bid farewell to a professional and esteemed leader, an avid rugby fan and a respected peer amongst staff and friends.

Geoff Wessling recently finished up as NSW State Director following a 2-year stint heading both Sydney campuses.

CQUniversity will not be losing his charisma and experience though as he has been appointed to the position of General Manager Commercial and Strategic Development with C Management Services.

Mr Wessling started his career in education as a qualified teacher in the late 70s. It wasn't until March 2003 when Geoff began his relationship with CQU, stepping in as the TECC Manager for the Brisbane International Campus. He then took up a Sub Dean position at the Gold Coast International Campus and then Brisbane International Campus (BIC) respectively until he stepped into the Campus Director role at BIC in September 2004.

In June 2006, Geoff grabbed the opportunity to head the Sydney International Graduate Campus until May 2007, when he took up the role of NSW State Director - Sydney International Campuses.

Even with his many years of experience in education, Geoff still manages to find time to engage in the leisurely activities which have kept him busy and fit: carpentry and rugby union. His creative hands have resulted in the building and completion of 2 houses and the renovation of another.

Rest assured his talents do not end there. Geoff has a way of handling rugby balls. Not only was he the youngest person to captain a Brisbane side but Geoff was privileged to play alongside greats such as Mark Loan and Roger Gould.

His devotion and determination can be attributed to an ideal which he strongly believes in, "Do not expect somebody to do it for you. You must strive for it yourself," comments Geoff.

Furthermore he does not believe in the notion of ‘if it's not broken why fix it?' "No...we must continue to improve and innovate, move with the times," reaffirmed Geoff.

We would like to thank Geoff for his leadership and contribution to the Sydney International Campuses and further congratulate him on his new role.
