Staff and students from Central Queensland Conservatorium of Music are taking a well-earned break, having performed for more than 2500 people last week.
CQCM Director Greg Whateley congratulated the team for their on-going commitment in providing quality entertainment.
“The exceptional performances in the past week reflects the dedication and on-going commitment from both staff and students in providing outstanding entertainment,” he said.
Andrew Lloyd Webber's masterpiece "Aspects of Love" swept Central Queensland Conservatorium of Music audience members off its feet from Thursday to Saturday evening.
Bachelor of Music Theatre students performed amongst bustling French cafis and fairgrounds, with contrasting and moving love scenes delighting audience members. Director and designer Garrick Jones said the show was a delicious mix of passion, romance and luscious music. CQCM staff members Judith Brown and Regis Danillon accompanied the students’ performance.
Meanwhile, slightly tanned jazz students returned from the inaugural Hamilton Island four-day jazz workshop. After completing morning sessions with internationally renowned trumpeter Don Rader, students played in various island venues from 4pm to midnight.
CQCM Jazz Studies Co-ordinator Glen Hodges hoped the unique partnership with the island would provide a venue for more gigs throughout the year.
Mr Rader also joined jazz students in the CQU Library 10th birthday celebrations on Sunday evening.
