Is it OWeek or Oh Weak at CQU Bundy

There has been action galore at CQU Bundaberg for the past four days during the traditional Orientation Week activities, with 300 first-year students finding their way around the campus.

The week began with the Formal Orientation Ceremony last Monday morning and continued non stop with activities ranging from surfing lessons to stress management workshops and even a pyjama breakfast.

PhotoID:1322 CQU Community Relations Officer Deirdre Fagan-Pagliano said the week has been a mixture of fun and more serious activities to ensure the students are ready to hit the ground running next week.

"I have been keeping an eye on the action and what a mixture there has been. The question and answers sessions were great, stress management, email and internet awareness not to mention uni procedures workshops seemed to be well attended and the mentors have certainly been doing the right things," she said.

"I am not sure if the Uni Dollars incentive encourages the great attendance at the workshops and lectures or whether the students are simply getting ready. On Thursday 150 goods go under the hammer and bidding will be frantic with a huge variety of prizes from a weekend at a local resort for five people, to mega macca and movie deals and a whole lot more." "One thing was certain there is a definite commitment by the staff at CQU Bundaberg to ensure the smooth running and success of O Week. I believe the dedication shown to students in the first week will continue to their graduation and is a strength of this campus.

"The Try Before You Die Session had students testing out activities such as surfing, pottery, fencing, square dancing, belly dancing, ten pin bowling and more. It was also great to see the local ABC broadcast live from the pyjama breakfast with prizes for the best dressed student in bed attire." Now it is down to the nitty gritty.
