Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Uni backs partnership to strengthen Gladstone region 

Gladstone Area Promotion and Development Ltd (GAPDL) and CQUniversity are combining their expertise to strengthen Gladstone's capacity as the ‘Region of Choice'...

The 2 organisations have had close relationships in the past and have now forged a stronger bond through a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU).

This partnership will provide opportunities for regular information exchange, research partnership arrangements and professional development.

Another key focus is to search for opportunities to strengthen regional partnerships.

GAPDL Chairman Colin Burke announced, "We are very excited here at GAPDL that this partnership will further enhance the promotion and development of the Gladstone Region".

"This MOU will facilitate programs that will enhance the wellbeing and lifestyle of the Gladstone Region."

CQUniversity Head of Gladstone Campus, Dr Pierre Viljoen says "CQUniversity looks forward to the signing of the MOU with GAPDL".

"The MOU not only recognises and formalises the long-standing relationship between the 2 entities, but also illustrates the intention of CQUniversity to take the existing relationship to the next level and to explore ways to create benefit for the broader Gladstone Regional community."
