Professor Denis Cryle, from CQU Contemporary Communication, has featured this Tuesday evening on ABC's Late Night Live with Ellen Fanning.
The program was repeated on Wednesday afternoon.
Audio from the program is available via: http://www.abc.net.au/rn/talks/lnl/ .
The program was a discussion about the history and culture of Australian media, and its relationship with the Australian government, and the public.
Dr Cryle was interviewed in tandem with Jean Hillier, his co-editor of a new book called 'Consent and Consensus: Politics, Media and Governance in Twentieth Century Australia'.
The program asked: 'Where is the space for community dissent around popular issues such as managing the environment or going to war, when those issues are often promoted - through Government rhetoric, and through many channels of the media - as already having reached a national consensus?'.
