Students put bridge and circuit designs on the line

Second-year Engineering students have gathered in Rockhampton for independent testing of projects they have designed and built.

Civil and mechanical students did simulation modelling on their bridge designs before constructing them for 'deflection' testing under laboratory conditions.

Meanwhile, electrical students designed and prepared circuit boards able to measure and control water levels in a container, using level detectors and valves.

Participating students included those from Rockhampton, Mackay and Gladstone campuses, as well as FLEX students who travelled for the event.

Many of those participating are looking forward to starting their 'Co-op' placements, doing paid employment with relevant industries as part of their degree.
