Year 10s to leap into science at CQU

Central Queensland University will once again host a three-day Siemens Science Experience program for students entering year 10 in 2003.
The CQU Siemens Science Experience will be held from 21 to 23 January at the Rockhampton campus.
This science education program organised by the Science Schools Foundation, and sponsored by Siemens Ltd, aims to introduce students to as many aspects of science, engineering and technology studies at the University as possible.
Local program director in Rockhampton Sheila Jeffery said students could expect exciting three days of hands-on activities in laboratories and lecture theatres.
“I hope the program will encourage the students to continue these studies in upper secondary years and at University,” Mrs Jeffery said.
“This year the program will include a session by Questacon, the National Science Centre in Canberra, called ‘Smart Moves’ which explores cutting-edge science, engineering and technology in Australia by using examples of the very latest discoveries and the effects they could have on students’ lives.” Application forms have been distributed to all secondary schools and Rotary Clubs.
