Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Chinese student wins Queensland experience 

Central Queensland University welcomed Chinese student Cuicui Song to Rockhampton this week as part of her prize for winning CQU’s Project China Competition.

PhotoID:3073 Ms Song won 1of 2 CQU study tour scholarships up for grabs through a web-based competition open to Chinese students aimed at increasing Chinese student numbers at CQU.

CQU is a popular choice for Chinese university students with about 1800 Chinese students studying at CQU’s Australian and overseas teaching sites.

The competition was open to residents of China, aged 18 years and over, who were currently enrolled in an accredited education institution.

As part of Ms Song’s prize she was provided with return air fares from Shanghai to Brisbane and then to Rockhampton before commencing her four weeks study tour which includes English classes, lectures and recreational activities. While in Australia she will stay with homestay families.
