Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Performing career now cruising for former CQU Mackay student 

Former CQU Mackay (Central Queensland Conservatorium of Music) student Madeline Cain has accepted the role of female lead singer on P&O's Pacific Princess cruiseship.

PhotoID:1088 She will move to Sydney on October 3, where she will rehearse for six weeks before setting sail on November 19.

"My ship sails the Pacific islands 10 days at a time which means I am constantly docking in Sydney," Madeline said.

"I will perform 2-3 shows a night including dancing and singing with styles including jazz, pop and music theatre." Madeline completed her Bachelor of Music Theatre degree at the Conservatorium last year.

"My training at CQCM really was the major stepping stone of my life into the industry," she said.
