Dr Who helps Gladstone Campus get noticed

The 2009 Rio Tinto Alcan Gladstone Harbour Festival Street Parade brought colour, sparkle and a large number of unusual looking creatures...

With the theme for the 2009 Parade being Sci-fi, Robots and Aliens, who could go past the famous sound of the Dr Who opening credits; luckily no-one at CQUniversity Gladstone.

Local staff members got together to create the float and an atmosphere that rivaled the real Doctor. With their very own Tardis, a range of Darleks, Aliens and even a Dr and his assistant, the CQUniversity Gladstone's "Journey to Your Future" Dr Who Float paraded the streets of Gladstone providing residents with an out of this world experience.

Val Hough Customer Relations and Administration Officer said: "the best part of it all was when the children involved put on their costumes and face paint, most of whom who had never been on the street parade before at all, this combined with the classic Dr Who theme music and sound effects from the show which was heard from the ute and really enticed the community to take notice".

The Street Parade which kicks of the Harbour Festival, brings the community together and was a perfect opportunity for CQUniversity to show support and enthusiasm for the local community.
