Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Learning managers help celebrate Under 8s Week 

CQU Mackay’s Bachelor of Learning Management (Early Childhood) students ventured out into the community to present activities for young children and their parents to celebrate Under 8s week.

There were events such as puppet shows, yoga, tai chi, healthy food preparation, art activities and games including slosh-ball and sack races.

“This type of program gives our Early Childhood students experience not only in the community but also it helps them with their learning as they acquire the knowledge and skills needed for delivering services to children in a fun learning environment,” CQU Mackay lecturer Beverley Murphy said.

The students were welcomed at locations in and around Mackay - the city, Gordon White and Mirani libraries, Sarina Body Centre and PCYC After School Care Program.
