Gold Coast Campus players made the most of their home team advantage by winning the final of this year's Chancellor's Challenge Cup cricket tournament against Sydney Campus...
Campus teams from Melbourne, Brisbane and Rockhampton and a second team from the Gold Coast also took part in the 3-day cricketing festival, arranged by CQUniversity Australia.

Teams were mainly made up of international students from India, with a sprinkling of local lads, and all agreed the tournament was a great success with beautiful weather, fine sportsmanship and some high quality batting and bowling.
Last year's champions Rockhampton had a difficult tournament and finished with the wooden spoon for last place. Meanwhile, weeks of practice paid off for the Gold Coast boys, with wins in the lead-up matches and a strong victory in the final with an over to spare.
In the final, Sydney were all out for 117 while the Gold Coast reached 6/118.
Man of the Final (based on his score of 31) and also Man of the Series was Varun Pawagi of the Gold Coast. The trophy for Man of the Series was named after Dr Martand Joshi, a great supporter of CQUniversity who sadly passed away earlier this year.
Those making the trip to catch the action at the coast¹s Runaway Bay fields included CQUniversity Chancellor Rennie Fritschy and Vice-Chancellor Professor Scott Bowman.
Pro Vice-Chancellor Professor Kevin Tickle was resplendent in his pith helmet as he umpired matches.
The Chancellor was on hand to present the winning team with the Cup and also to present all players with a medal as recognition of their efforts.
It's hoped the tournament will continue to grow in size. This is the second year of the format, following an inaugural event in Rockhampton in 2008.
A special note of thanks was given to Gold Coast staff members Jodie Roberts and Kerri Viragh, who worked so hard to make the event such a success.
