Mackay Women in Research beach retreat assists writing skills
Published on 15 May, 2003
About 20 university researchers discussed methods for presenting and writing research material for a variety of audiences on Saturday. CQU Mackay Women in Research co-ordinator Judi Parson said the workshops allowed participants to develop skills for having research results included in a range of publications. “The variety of workshops allowed the researchers to consider how their own work could be transformed into different formats,” she said.
“The workshop also allowed the university to foster positive relationships with community members.” Associate Professor Helen Waite outlined strategies for planning research posters.
Dr Susan Rees discussed matters dealing with journal publications.
After lunch, Julie Fletcher encouraged researchers to write material suitable for media exposure.
Throughout the day researchers presented 10-minute overviews that related to their current research interest.
The next Women in Research workshop will be held in September.
