Bundaberg Centrelink - giving students options
Published on 29 January, 2004
Central Queensland University students in Bundaberg benefited from a Student Information Service trialled by Centrelink recently.
Bundaberg Centrelink Manager Cory Pignatelli said the Centrelink stall provided the opportunity for students to ask any questions relating to assistance available to students.
“Bundaberg Centrelink works closely with CQU to deliver the best possible services to students,” Mr Pignatelli said.
. “Whether the students are planning their future, looking for a change, or wanting to continue studying, our specialist staff were able to provide them with the right information about payments and services".
CQU Bundaberg’s Student Services Intake Officer Sue Praed said the service was a great benefit to students at the university.
“To have the Centrelink staff here was tremendous because it gave students the opportunity to get their payments sorted out on campus before they actually started their studies,” Ms Praed said.
“We’re really keen to have our students well informed in regards to their rights and the appropriate procedures to access their entitlements.
“This avoids delays in their payments and the associated distractions this can sometimes bring.”.
Students are reminded that information about payments and services from Centrelink is also available on the Centrelink website at www.centrelink.gov.au.
This includes online services such as employment income reporting, which allows certain students to report their employment income online instead of lodging a form at a Centrelink Customer Service Centre.
