Dr Suzanne Innes - Guest Speaker Noosa Graduation

Dr Suzanne Innes, DipEd, BA(Hons), BEdStud, Qld, GradCert TESOL NE, MSchoolMgt, DEd CQU, AFIM is the Executive Director School Improvement - North Coast Region, Nambour South. This area encompasses 44 education sites, 1,635 staff and over 27,000 students. Suzanne has held several positions with the education sector, including that of Executive Director (Schools) Sunshine Coast North, High School Principal, Deputy Principal, Consultant, Lecturer and Teacher.
She is widely known for her expertise in her field, as evidenced by the awarding to her of the "District Education Showcase Award, Middle and Senior Phase of Learning". In addition, she received a Centenary Medal for service to education as Principal of Bowen and Maroochydore State High Schools.
In her current role, Suzanne is responsible for the development, implementation and review of strategies to enhance school performance and capability.
Some of her major achievements include the supervision of the completion of a new school in Caloundra; the initiation, development and implementation of a district strategic plan, in conjunction with principles, and the implementation of significant reforms in the senior years of schooling (years 10 to 12), under education and training reforms.
Suzanne has built consensus through initiating and developing team focused leadership, mentored programs and created learning networks, including cooperative planning, moderation protocols and processes.
She successfully established, and led, the new Nambour South area within the North Coast Education Region and codeveloped a ‘Model for Leading School Improvement' and a one day conference program to launch this model. In addition, she has formed Professional Learning Communities of Schools in the Nambour South area and developed literacy resources for on-line Pod casts. She has also chaired, and led, district and inter-district investigations involving Principals for Education Queensland. Suzanne's ongoing partnerships with Universities to further develop and review international pre-service and postgraduate teacher education programs, has strengthened our diverse community, enhanced our economy and enriched our culture.
