Theatre students all a twitter over 'Bye Bye Birdie'
Published on 26 March, 2009
Our Bachelor of Theatre students are all of a twitter over their latest musical comedy production at the Central Queensland Conservatorium of Music Theatre in Mackay (April 2-4)...
Set in 1958, Bye Bye Birdie* tells the story of Conrad Birdie, an Elvis Presley-type rock and roll superstar, who is drafted into the army. Teenie-boppers all over the country are crying and fainting at the thought.

Before he heads off to the army, his manager, Albert Peterson, has cooked up the ultimate publicity stunt - Conrad will kiss one randomly chosen member of his fan club goodbye on a live broadcast of The Ed Sullivan Show after singing his latest hit ‘One Last Kiss'.
Little does Kim MacAfee of Sweet Apple, Ohio know that her life is about to change forever when she will be the lucky girl chosen to receive the nationally-televised kiss.
Bye Bye Birdie is a satire done with the fondest affection. It gives an insight into the everyday life that is very much part of us all. It is the tops in imagination and frivolity; a show that will be enjoyed by The Cast as much as the audience.
