Faculty highlights 'Dimensions of Learning' during Showcase

The Faculty of Arts, Humanities & Education will be telling its story during the 2007 Learning & Teaching Showcase, from 2.45pm on Thursday, February 22.

Part of the story will be an engaging 10-minute presentation on the framework for learning called 'Dimensions of Learning' (Marzano & Pickering, 1997). Dimensions of Learning or DoL is based on research in cognitive psychology that identifies the kinds of thinking involved in the learning process.

PhotoID:3703 DoL is a comprehensive, integrated model for curriculum, instruction and assessment for all content areas and is identified by 5 key dimensions:.

1.Dimension ONE - is concerned with attitudes and perceptions.

2.Dimension TWO - relates to acquiring and integrating knowledge.

3.Dimension THREE - is about how learners extend and refine knowledge.

4.Dimension FOUR - focuses on the way in which learners use knowledge meaningfully.

5.Dimension FIVE - relates to learners' habits of mind.

Central Queensland University is inviting all educators in the region to its 2007 Learning and Teaching Showcase, 'The Scholarship of Learning and Teaching at CQU – Informing Practice – Sharing Wisdom', on February 22-23, 2007.
