Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Adult learning peak body visits, calls for 'reassessment'

The president of Australia's peak adult learning body, Professor Barry Golding has visited Rockhampton for a forum calling for a reassessment of adult education in Australia.

CQUniversity hosted the forum at its Ron Smyth Building in Quay Street.

    A total of 221 graduates enjoyed this week's (May 6) CQU Melbourne International Campus graduation ceremony, featuring an address by prominent writer, lawyer, journalist and teacher Alice Pung*.

    The ceremony was held in the Palladium Ballroom Crown Towers at Southbank and included graduates representing 22 different nationalities.

  • Red Cross boss guest for Brisbane graduation

    Australian Red Cross Executive Director Greg Goebel will this afternoon (May 8) address 121 graduates from 26 nations during the graduation ceremony for CQU's Brisbane and Gold Coast international campuses.

    Held at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre, the event will include musical interludes from former CQU staff member and alumnus Dr Dimitri Kopanakis.

  • Students from 25 nations enjoy Sydney graduation

    A total of 358 students from 25 nations enjoyed the CQU Sydney International Graduation ceremony held this week (Wednesday, May 7) at the Grand Harbour Ballroom, Star City.

    The event was a chance for the University to welcome back a former senior staff member, Professor Debbie Clayton*, as guest speaker.

  • Combat casualty contingent wins minds and hearts

    A CQU-led team of expert nurses has recently returned to Australia, overjoyed with the success of their 10-day combat casualty training program for 31 army nurses in the Philippines during April.

    Participants in the Military Health Skills Training Project have reported on how enthusiastic and grateful their hosts were throughout the training.
