- Uni leads push to safeguard Australians

Educators from 15 of the 17 universities offering OHS programs and representatives from 3 of the state government regulators met at our Sydney International Campus recently for a national forum, as part of the CQUniversity-led ALTC grant 'Safeguarding Australians'.
Participants have agreed to a 'Sydney Declaration' Communiqué* to lobby stakeholders for reform, with our Associate Professor in Human Factors & Systems Safety, Dr Yvonne Toft as key spokesperson.

Audience members at our latest Research Unplugged session were keen to hear about the role of happiness and health in keeping disease-causing bacteria at bay.
Speaking at Rockhampton's Criterion Hotel on April 23, Dr John McGrath from the Capricornia Centre for Mucosal Immunology at CQUniversity explained that we live in a delicate balance with microbes, during his presentation entitled Bacterial wars: the ‘fight' for physical, nutritional and mental health'?.

An afternoon of 'Circus Fun' is among activities planned by CQUniversity Mackay students in conjunction with Under Eights Week during May.
Under Eights Week activities are being presented by our Advocacy, Leadership and Change in Early Childhood Education students, in partnership with the Mackay libraries.

Tequila, a desert plant which is related to the species shown below, has fuelled many a big night out and the next-morning headaches too! But now researchers have decided to lick-sip-suck and see just what potential there is to create biofuel (ethanol) out of the 'tequila plant'.
Botanically known as Agave tequilana, the plant which produces tequila is one of the most water-efficient in the world.

Phillip Ainsworth OAM
has held various Human Resources (HR) and Industrial Relations (IR) positions within the steel and iron ore mining industry, in addition to HR employment at the University of New England Armidale Campus, before moving to Bundaberg. Students throughout regional Queensland will be able to access free one-to-one tutoring thanks to a CQUniversity-sponsored service recently launched by a range of libraries.
This initiative is based on a ground-breaking partnership between the University, the State Library of Queensland (SLQ), and public libraries.
