Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Adult learning peak body visits, calls for 'reassessment'

The president of Australia's peak adult learning body, Professor Barry Golding has visited Rockhampton for a forum calling for a reassessment of adult education in Australia.

CQUniversity hosted the forum at its Ron Smyth Building in Quay Street.

  • Campus jams with not your average Bears

    Central Queensland University in conjunction with the Rockhampton Mental Health Promotion committee will present the band BiPolar Bears on the Rockhampton campus to celebrate Mental Health Week and the end of the university term on Friday October 5.

    The event will be staged on the Library Lawns from 2 to 4pm, where there will also be a sausage sizzle and a masseuse for staff and students.

    Rockhampton water expert Ben Kele's wastewater treatment system is the cornerstone of a coastal community development which derives all its water from on-site sources and recycles its own waste.

    Awarded for Excellence in Environmentally Sustainable Development from the Urban Development Institute of Australia (Qld), Sunrise at 1770 is a $22 million coastal development 10km from the Town of 1770, a beach township in Central Queensland.

    A Central Queensland University research group has been awarded one of 5 prestigious national 2007 ACARP (Australian Coal Research Limited) Awards for Research Excellence.

    The ACARP Awards are made every 2 years to research groups who have enjoyed scientific success and excellence in addressing a significant coal industry problem.
