BLACKALL born, Dean Smith, was 1 of 7 aspiring teachers to receive a Bid O'Sullivan teaching scholarship this year.
Mr Smith is using his scholarship to study the Bachelor of Learning Management (Japanese) program at CQU Rockhampton.

Former Dysart resident and 2006 Performing Arts graduate Tegan Devine has taken her performing career to the next level and will star as an extra in the Hollywood film Fools Gold to be released in cinemas next year.
The film which sees Matthew McConaughey and Kate Hudson reunite for another romantic comedy (the pair teamed up for the hit How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days) is currently being filmed on the Gold Coast at Warner Bros studios.

Lisa Donohue has always wanted to become a teacher but admits she originally lacked motivation and decided to leave school at the end of Year 10 if a decent job came up.
Now a quarter of a century later, Lisa has returned to her old school (North Rocky High) as a teacher after excelling at her academic studies.
