Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Adult learning peak body visits, calls for 'reassessment'

The president of Australia's peak adult learning body, Professor Barry Golding has visited Rockhampton for a forum calling for a reassessment of adult education in Australia.

CQUniversity hosted the forum at its Ron Smyth Building in Quay Street.

    It wasn't a dream of first-year Biomedical Science student, Felomina Guy, to achieve the Queen's Guide Award in her guiding career, however her dedication to Guide training over the past 9 years has enabled her to achieve this prize - the first Bundaberg guide in 20 years to do so.

    "My special interest area was community service - I worked with disabled bowlers and assisted with a PCYC halloween fun day - it was fun to do," said Miss Guy.

  • Entries sought for national band competition

    Entries are now being sought from Central Queensland students for the National Campus Band Competition.

    The CQU Student Association at CQU Rockhampton is hosting the Central Queensland region leg of the competition and is looking for musicians, including bands, duos and solo artists, to enter with all styles and genres of music being accepted.

  • Knight appointed Emeritus Professor

    Dr Alan Knight was recently honoured with appointment as an Emeritus Professor of CQU at a graduation ceremony for CQU Brisbane and Gold Coast.

    The appointment is recognition that Dr Knight earned personal, professional, and community distinction during his time at CQU, and contributed to the reputation of the University within the higher education sector and the community at large.
